Hello
I care about you and your incredible brain. With training in both psychiatry and midwifery, I specialize in the overlap of hormones and mental health, offering a gentle, compassionate approach to help you navigate life’s changes with confidence.
My Story
I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife with over a decade of experience. I combine the midwifery philosophy of “being with” into my psychiatric practice. My approach is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and respect for your unique story. I know how overwhelming and even scary it can feel to navigate treatment options, which is why I strive to make space for you to feel heard, supported, and empowered in your choices.
Much of my work focuses on ways hormones and brain chemistry interact throughout life’s transitions. Whether it’s navigating PMDD, planning or being pregnant, adjusting to postpartum changes, or moving through perimenopause and menopause, I want you to know you don’t have to go through these seasons alone. Because hormones and mental health are so closely connected, I also offer HRT/MHT and a limited scope of reproductive services.
My path to this work has been shaped by a deep passion for both psychiatry and reproductive health. As the first in my family to graduate college, I began my nursing career with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northern Arizona University, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University. I became a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, and after years of hearing patient’s say, “you’re the first person who has really listened to me in years,” I decided to return for additional training in psychiatry. I completed a Post-Graduate training from Frontier Nursing University and completed by certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Every step of my training has reinforced my commitment to providing whole-person, compassionate care that honors the connection between body, mind and hormones.
Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of serving as president of the Washington Affiliate of the American College of Nurse Midwives, as a legislative chair, and as Region VII Representative to the National Government Affairs Committee. I am also a Fellow of the American College of Nurse Midwives. The Washington State Achievement Council recognized me as a provider for the Washington Health Corps, and one of the highlights of my career was receiving the “People’s Choice Award” from my peers at Providence Medical Center for helping establish a Medication-Assisted Treatment program for pregnant people with opioid use disorder.
In addition to my clinical work, I find joy in teaching and mentoring the next generation of providers. I serve as adjunct faculty at Georgetown University and Bellevue College, working with nursing, midwifery, women’s health, and psychiatric nurse practitioner students as well as training family practice residents when working as a midwife.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple philosophy: I care! My goal is offer gentle, trauma-informed, evidence-based care that supports you to feel more grounded, resilient, and hopeful through life’s many changes.
